Hooray! Here comes the Diamond Jubilee Weekend and it’s promising to be a real sparkler. As we celebrate 60 years of Queen Elizabeth II on the throne there’ll be more parades, processions, balcony waving and general merriment than you can wave a Union Jack at. If you want to celebrate in style, why not pick up a few fashion pointers from the lady herself? I’ve taken a look at Liz’s most stylish looks and updated them with a 2012 twist. Be prepared to rock that regal look!

I love the early pictures (above) of the Queen before she took to adopting the more conservative look that we are used to. How glam does she look in her beaded dress? And who knew she had such a great figure underneath all those pastel suits? My favourite ‘Liz look’ has to be her in the black 1950s style jacket – giving Audrey Hepburn a run for her money. I have to say that looking for a 1950s dress or similar was no problem at all as retro 50s is really ‘in’ this year. I’m also loving the way that Liz is carrying her handbag – reminds me of how the WAGS carry their bags today.

In particular I really love the Ava handbag, not only great value at £89 (it’s made with Italian leather) but it also has three compartments inside – perfect for keeping one’s gloves and tiaras… I also really love the bow hairstyle – shame I’ve had all my hair chopped off but I may be able to rustle it into a small front-section bow a la Lady Gaga.

The Fedora Hat is a real Summer must-have and something that I expect the Duchess of Cambridge might wear. It would look great either dressed up for a wedding or dressed-down with jeans and a cute, summery top for festivals, picnics and garden parties. The ASOS dress is also very pretty, with its chiffon edges and pleats – this will also look great at garden parties, posh lunches and weddings. All that’s missing are white gloves and a couple of Corgis.

  1. That handbag is divine and it looks like it could do a fair amount of damage should I need to keep my husband in order. I’m following the jubilee celebrations on the tv. London looks amazing.

  2. Yes, I think a good wollop with that and he’ll be seeing stars – that’s how Liz keeps Phil in check (she just needs to hit a bit harder sometimes!)
And yes, London is looking really amazing. I went to Regents Street the other day and had to stand in the middle of people zooming up and down all around me and just take it all in. Marvellous! Enjoy the TV – looking forward to the concert tonight. xx
