Reviews — 18 July 2012

Those of you paying attention yesterday (what do you mean you weren’t?) will know that one of my little monsters is completely ‘into’ everything Moshi Monsters. He can’t get enough of the computer game, magazines, loves the APP and not surprisingly is rather taken with his new Moshi Charm Watch…

I don’t know about you but in our house we have a warning system – it’s called the 5-minute warning system to be precise. It goes something like this. We need to leave the house but the kids are watching TV – issue the 5 minute warning. We are out at a friend’s house and it’s time to leave – issue the 5 minute warning. At the park, soft play, playground… you get the picture.

Until recently the 5-minute warning just worked on its own but now Noah is 6 he’s wanting to get more of an idea of what 5-minutes actually ‘looks like’. Enter the Moshi Monsters Charm Watch. The watch is rather nifty. The watch is on a wristband rather than a normal strap and is fastened with press studs rather than a buckle which makes it easy for little hands to put on by themselves. It also comes with another (different coloured) strap so that the kids can customize their watch and to hold the extra charms. The watch itself pops out of its holder, so that can be swapped around too.

The straps come with 3 Moshi charms that can moved around and positioned in different holes on the watch and extra strap. The watch can fit up to 5 charms so if you want to you can buy extras online – there are 30 in all to collect. As Ferne had a watch too there was some bartering over which Moshis they could swap.

The problem with the charms was that they sometimes fell off. One went missing in the garden which lead to a big treasure hunt to find Big Bad Bill. He was eventually found near the raspberry patch and peace was restored. Phew.

Noah managed to grasp telling the time pretty quickly (he has been learning at school anyway) and enjoyed announcing ‘it’s now 3′o clock,’ when it was necessary to check his Moshis online and when the all important 5 minutes were over. In my book anything that’s going to encourage a bit of learning is a good thing so we were grateful that the lure of the Moshi Monsters had encouraged him to do so.

Positives
Encourages Moshi fans to tell the time
Fun to wear as you can change charms and colour of straps
Easy for kids to put on

Negatives
The charms can fall off

Moshi Monster Charm Watches, £14.99 and extra charms cost £1.99 each

  1. Oh Moshi has completely passed us by. Maybe because Aaron is only 2?
He would LOVE a watch though so I may just look into this.

Thank you so much for visiting my George Michael post – I also wondered what the hell the zebra was about LOL

    xx

    • Hello
I would say you have still got Moshi madness to come – I reckon from about age 4 upwards. Watches are always good to have though aren’t they?
You’re welcome about the George comment – I do love him. There’s another blogger called Tea & Biscotti who is also a GM fan. Maybe she knows what the zebra’s about?! x
