page contents London Fashion Week: Maria Grachvogel | mummy rates it
Fashion & Beauty Just for YOU — 16 September 2012

Some days I just feel like a stodgy old Mum, stuck at home doing boring stuff and not speaking to anyone apart from a quick ‘hello’ at the school gates. On Friday, however, I got a bit of a buzz as I went to see Maria Grachvogel’s Spring/Summer 2013 catwalk show at London Fashion Week.

As you’ve probably gathered I do love fashion and whilst I may not have the budget to buy designer items I do take inspiration from the catwalk and scoop up pieces as they filter through to the High Street.

Maria Grachvogel is famed for her prints and for next year there is a delicate, tye-dye print to her collection which appeared on flowing, silk maxi dresses with halter ties. Also noted was the continuation of this year’s see-through chiffon which appeared on her structured pants and catsuits.

Maria says of her collection: “I love to allow inspiration to just flow when I create and for SS13, my woman is lean, modern and cool. The lines are cleaner and more architectural both in the cutting techniques and through the print. I am playing with sculptural pleats and contrasting textures.”

Hair wise the girls went down the catwalk with braids, again, something that has been big this year. However, they also had tufty bits sticking up at the back which gave it a bit of a ‘I’ve just had a tumble in the haystack’ appeal.

Apart from taking in the shows, half of the fun of London Fashion Week was seeing all the fashionistas parading around in their designer gear and the ‘mmmwwwah’ air kissing.

I spotted some really stand-out members of the fashion pack such as blogger Florrie Clarke who was being stopped every 2 seconds to talk through her Harajaku look (see collage). I also spotted milliner Tracy Rose whose hat is inspired by The Park Theatre project (also in the collage).

  1. How exciting! I’ve never been to a fashion show. The pressure to look good must be immense. What did you wear?

    • Do you know what – I knew everyone else would make SUCH an effort that I didn’t bother! How boring is that. I have won some tickets (there is a comp on Facebook run by Triumph) for London Fashion Weekend so I intend to dress up for that! x
