Want to transform your wardrobe with one easy and versatile piece of clothing? I think this season’s cropped jacket could be just the thing…

A month or so ago at the Next Bloggers’ Fashion shoot I picked out a bright yellow, Chanel-inspired collarless jacket to wear. That day I teamed it with a pair of jeans and some flats and I loved how it smartened up an otherwise quite casual look.

Metallic Textured Jacket by Next

I could see it being something that I could wear for the school drop off, to meet with friends and to the occasional blogging event that I attend. Long gone are the days that I worked in an office but this would be just the thing to swan in wearing and to drape over my swivel chair. I could even, should the date night arise (hint, hint) wear it with a skirt or over a dress. The opportunities are, as they say, endless.

Since then I’ve been lucky enough to get my hands on another Next jacket. This time the Metallic Textured Jacket, £50 and have worn it A LOT. Not only has it pepped up some jeans but I’ve also worn it daytime with a very feminine skirt, neon earrings and ring and some studded heels. May I also add that for a relatively ‘small’ item it is surprisingly warm. So warm in fact that indoors I had to take it off. So it’s just thing for that transition into Spring.

Having played around with the jacket I’ve decided that it

works best with a simple top underneath. You can also play with having it fully done up or open or, as I prefer, with just the top button done up. Two other key things to remember are to play with the sleeves – sometimes it looks nice to have them a bit scrunched or rolled up and to accessorise. These jackets look really cute with a chunky necklaces worn over the top.

Below you’ll find a selection of gorgeous jackets. As you can see there’s a great choice out there and something to suit all budgets.

    • Ah, so it was you?! Thank you. I actually nom’d you too I think it was Blog of the Universe and Super Blogger Extraordinare. I will still carry on doing all my lifestyle stuff when away – not sure how it’ll work. I guess I can go window shopping and see what styles are ‘going down’ in various countries. I’ll definitely be posting sailing and travel posts so don’t worry you don’t need to miss me too much! xx

  2. I love jackets but as I have big boobs, always struggle with shorter ones. They make me look very boxy. The tuxedo style has been a godsend. Seems to be the most flattering shape for me.

  3. Just got my broadband up and running after what seems like the longest time! I haven\’t been able to visit your blog for quite some time but wooooah it\’s FAB! :) So when are you off sailing my lovely? x

    • Ahh thanks Lucy. Glad you’re all up and running again. You’re quite an inspiration. We’re off in April so it’s getting close. The kids finish school at Easter and then it’s all go go go! Can’t wait to do a boot fair this weekend and get rid of STUFF. xxxx
