Who needs to battle it out in the High Street mid-season sales when you can do it from the comfort of your home? Here are my tips for getting the best from the online sales…

Lace dress from the New Look sale

Pretty dress at a pretty price: Lace dress on sale at New Look

In partnership with New Look

If you want to make the best of online sales, like the clothes sale currently taking place on New Look’s site, I think it’s best to be prepared – consider it like getting your elbows at the ready, albeit from your kitchen table.

My online sales shopping tips:

1. Rummage through your wardrobe: Take a look at your wardrobe and find the gaps. If you’re anything like me I’m always short of long-sleeved tops, plain tops, belts and casual dresses/skirts. Leading me to point 2…

2. Make a list: It can be helpful to make a list of what you need. Sometimes the bargaintastic nature of a sale can be majorly distracting. If you have a list you can cross it off and then, if you still feel like it, splurge on those sequinned hot pants!

New Look sale: A good pair of denim shorts will see you through the summer…

3. Set a budget: Shopping online can sometimes make £ signs become blurred, even more so when you’re shopping with a credit card. I suggest you set a limit and keep nipping back to the ‘basket’ on the site to see the running total.

4. Know your size/store: There are certain labels that I know very well and am therefore happy to buy online without worrying if something will fit. If in doubt check out the site’s size guide and get out your tape measure.

5. Take a note of the delivery/returns service: Some shops deliver so quickly that you turn off your PC and the package is already at the door. OK, well maybe not that quick but often they just take a day or so. Many also offer a free returns service which means you can drop any unwanted items at a post office or a newsagent/local shop with a xxx sign. Oh, and don’t forget to check that you’re refunded!
