page contents Fun, Fizz and Festivity: Next Fashion Lock-In | mummy rates it

The highlight of my week was going to The Next Fashion Lock-In – a fashion event with the 3 Fs: Fun (when is shopping not?), Fizzy (Prosecco) and Festivity (the lights outside on Oxford Street were twinkling away). Hustled into the Bond Street branch, via a red carpet, this exclusive blogging event was an opportunity to see Next’s festive fashion up close…

Each blogger was handed 10 personalised tags to put on the hangers of our favourite Next items. In no time at all, powered by Prosecco and tune-age from DJ Ella, we were all whizzing around the store, eyeing up and sizing up Next’s offerings for the party season. Not surprisingly there were plenty of black, navy and plum pieces with a good helping of sparkle and jewels too. Lace was also key to festive outfits and appeared on dresses, tops and even leggings. It wasn’t all dark, there were plenty of Winter brights with dresses, tops and jackets in graphic and floral prints. In fact, the Geo jacket, with its stand-out purple print, was awarded with one of my ‘mummy rates it’ tags.

I’ll be honest. It was actually quite difficult to only pick out 10 pieces that I loved as there were so many great items to choose from. However, being on my best behaviour, I stuck to the rules and hung one of my tags on the following items (all of which can be seen on my Pinterest board: ‘Next Lock-In’):

1. Grey Tweed Biker Jacket, £50

2. Black laser cut top, £28

3. Black Brush Lace Dress, £45

4. Mink check Next Coat, £80

5. Black Pin Stud Boxy Clutch, £26

6. Purple Geo Jacket, £60

7. Shirt layer top, £32

8. Black mini spot tapered trousers, £30

9. Jewelled sweater, £32

10. Mid Wash Vintage Relaxed Skinny Jeans, £26

At the end of the evening we were lucky enough to be able to choose some pieces to take home. Now, I don’t know if it was the fizz, Ella’s tunes or it being the bewitching hour but I went all ‘rock chick’ on myself. There was no doubt that the laser cut top was going to be mine – it had caught my eye from the moment we walked in. I can see it being worn with jeans or dressed up with leggings and heels. No surprise then that I also chose some lace leggings which look great with either boots or heels. Thinking practically (quite an achievement after fizz) I also picked up a pair of Next’s studded boots – not that I was the only one. They had by far the most ‘I’m loving’ tags. Cementing the popularity of the boots, an in-store source informed me that they had been flying off the shelves quicker than you could say Next Lock-In! So, if you fancy a pair – get in quick.

Big thanks to all the girls on the Next team for a wonderful night.
