Fashion & Beauty — 10 September 2012

Is it just me or does September, with going back to school, what should be the end of that elusive thing called summer and the return to normality after the amazing achievements of Team GB feel like time to start afresh?

Actually I know it’s not just me because a few weeks ago I tweeted to ask if any fellow bloggers would be interested in buddying-up to help achieve goals. Very quickly I got responses from bloggers all saying that yes, they’d like to buddy up. Resoundingly we all said we’d like some motivation, help and a friendly ear to bash about losing weight and improving our time management skills.

So, Blogging Buddies was born and despite me taking a while to get my act together (yes, time management is lacking here at mummyratesit) today sees it being launched. .

Why not join in?

Today I’m starting by inviting any of you who would like to find a buddy or ten to join us. How about writing a regular post on your own site about your weight loss journey? Are your time-management skills excellent or sadly lacking? Perhaps you’ve posted recently about time-saving websites or ideas that have worked? Or, perhaps you have another goal that you’re working towards (getting a job, studying, de-cluttering…) that you’d like to share with us. Who knows, you may find a buddy in exactly the same boat? Please use the linky below and the Facebook page.

Make some buddies

I have also set up a Facebook group called Blogging Buddies. Say you’d like to join us and you can also stick up your posts and chat to other members. Perhaps you’ll find a blogger on there who you connect with and you can buddy-up and motivate each other to reach your goals? I will be posting up tips and advice that I’ve picked up recently, such as ‘How to shift that last half-stone’ tips from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s personal trainer.

Weigh-in Wednesdays

Mid-week madness will take place on Wednesdays where those losing weight can post up their weekly weight-loss. Don’t panic, nobody need know how much you weigh (unless you want to share) but you can simply put up how much you lost. With everyone in the same boat there’s sure to be some ‘cheers and consolations’ along the way but hopefully, together, we can achieve great results.

For starters I’m suggesting that as many of us as poss start with Slimming World’s Free Seven Day Menu. If we get organised and start this Wednesday (you’ve still got time to get the shopping in) we can write up our first set of results for next Wednesday. Let me know if you’re in!

Twitter party #bloggingbuddies

I love a party and it’s all the better when you’ve got something in common with most people there. Why not join me, health and fitness and time-saving experts for a twitter party at 8pm on Wednesday 26th September using the #bloggingbuddies More info on this one to come!

Guest Posts

I also have some Guest Posts lined up by Time-Management and health and fitness experts, these will be posted on my site and on the Facebook page, so please make sure you check those out.

So, there you have it. What do you think? I’m hoping that like me, you’ll see this as a great opportunity to
1. Achieve your goals
2. Make some blogging buddies
3. Have fun
4. Create content for your own blog

More tomorrow, until then see you over on the Facebook page!

  1. Such a nice idea, Michelle. Thanks for setting this up and getting us all together x

    • Thanks Rachel. I hope more people get involved – it would be great to have lots of peeps taking part and getting something from it. It’s great for me as I’ve put my name to it so I need to really stick to the diet now! I also can’t wait to get more organised time-wise. I really need to ‘get things done’ other than being on here, FB and Twitter! M x

  2. A great idea Michelle. I could link up my post about being rubbish at Weight Watchers, but that would be missing the point, wouldn’t it? Will defninitely join though, somehow, coz I do love a party. Will be watching this with interest. Well done you XX

    • You had your reasons for being rubbish at WW at that time though – it wasn’t exactly great timing was it? But yes, maybe something more positive would be more helpful Anya! Do get involved, we could do with your wit and wisdom! I know you love a party – you’re like me! I’ve got a nutrionist/diet expert involved and an exercise guru so it should be good. x
