page contents And it was all “Yellow” | mummy rates it
Fashion & Beauty Just for YOU — 18 April 2012

I have two yellow ‘numbers’ in my wardrobe. One old (vintage in fact) and the other very brand, spanking new. Thankfully both will be out and about this season as yellow is everywhere and it puts all that miserable rain and cloud stuff to shame. Want to add some sunshine to your wardrobe? I’ve picked out my favourite yellow high street buys.

If you are a bit scared of wearing yellow clothes then maybe consider accessories instead. The yellow shoes I bought were from Clarks. Is it just me or have Clarks had a major style injection over the last few years? They used to have a ‘comfy and sensible’ image which has now been replaced with something far trendier. That said, I did breathe a sigh of relief when I wore my Dollar Daze pair. Not only were they glam but they were comfy…

The Wallis X Body Bag is also a great way to give a nod to the trend and will pep up a dowdy wintery-coloured coat in a jiffy. I also recommend the Joules dress, which would be lovely for a wedding, christening or garden party. I have a very similar dress in white and pink from two years ago. It washes extremely well and the zip detail at the back (you can’t see it here but it has a prominent zip) gives what is otherwise a very feminine dress a bit of ‘edge’.

Enjoy this yellow collection – hope it brightens your day!

1. Dollar Daze shoes in Ochre, Clarks £54.99
2. Bright X Body Bag, Wallis £18
3. Buttercup Spring Trench, Boden £103.20
4. Embellished bow top, Next from £30
5. Katie Yellow Colour Pop Blazer, Boohoo.com £25
6. Calantha Dress, Joules £79.95
7. Palazzo trousers, Mango £29.99

PS: Regarding the Coldplay ref in the title… Thought those boys could do with a bit of backing to help them on their way to success! Hopefully they’ll return the favour by naming one of their next songs mummyratesit rocks…

  1. I bought a yellow t-shirt last week quite unaware of its ‘on-trendness’. I also bought a couple of pairs of pastel jeans thanks to your tips. Yes, I have no mind of my own ;-)

  2. Ha ha. There you go you’ve got Spring/Summer down pat. Hope the weather is better in Switzerland than here and you get to wear your new bits. x

    • It’s still pretty bleak at the moment but hoping for some sunshine soon. Need to show off my purchases :-)
