page contents 5 minutes: 5 stories – glitter and sprinkles | mummy rates it

Another week another 5 stories… this week a competition to win £750 (get the kids scribbling), an Indian cook book for babies and toddlers (get the kids gobbling) and a new Kiddicare superstore comes to Lakeside (get shopping!)…

1. Competition time!

Winning £750 around about now is pretty tempting isn’t it? TravelSupermarket are offering that as the top prize in the Postcards from Santa competition. Bloggers are asked to to showcase their children’s artistic skills by producing a Christmas card featuring Father Christmas himself on holiday. One lucky winner will be drawn at random from all of the entries to win £750 in cash and 5 runners ups will receive £50 Toys R Us vouchers. If that’s not reason enough to enter, each entry received will have a card made for them featuring their child’s design which will be sent to them before the big day. More details So Juicy range back in the summer. Now it’s f-f-f-reezing the Fresh Ideas range has moved in and kept us warm and glowing. Lincolnshire Sausage Casserole? Don’t mind if I do. Maggi has introduced 4 new recipe mixes to the existing range which included Sizzling Steak with Caramelised Red Onion and Creamy Herb and Garlic Chicken (yum). New sachets on the block joining the bangers are: Roasted Apple & Sage Pork, Beef & Ale casserole, Cheesy Chicken and Leek Potato Bake. All sachets are easy-peasy to use, contain no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives and being one pot/tray bake wonders cut down on washing-up – giving you more time to snuggle up on the sofa with the kids!

3. Curry for kids

More food – this time for littluns… Zainab Jagot Ahmed, mum of a cheeky toddler, has turned her love of cooking into a career. Of Indian origin, Zainab struggled to find Indian recipes to feed her baby so started making up her own. You guessed it – her foray was such a success at home that friends started asking for recipes and before she knew it she was writing: Indian Super Meals Baby & Toddler cook book as well as her own blog. Certainly sounds a lot more exciting than mushed-up banana and avocado…

4. Cake toppers, sprinkles and glitter

It’s our school Christmas fair today and I’ve been busy making some cakes as well as getting the icing ready for the biscuit decorating stall (it’s a very sticky affair I can tell you). I found some great little items onlineand thought I’d share them with you. I love these cake toppers featuring Rudolph and a tubby little Robin (£1.55). I also snapped up some edible glitter (£1.95) to add that sparkle to the cakes and icing and finally I bought some red and green Christmas tree sprinkles all from Amazon (clearly very popular as currently they are ‘sold out’.

5. Kiddicare comes to Lakeside

A day out at Lakeside was always good but if you’re a parent then things have just got better because a ma-hu-sive Kiddicare superstore has just opened. We might be past buying buggies and the like ourselves but if you’re not this place sound ideal. How much fun does the buggy test track sound? Or the fact that you can keep up-to-date with the latest bargains via the customer WiFi? Not impressed yet? Well, how about the cafe? Sounds great if you’re at Lakeside and need to sit down as a family without the worry of causing a ‘scene’ and the Nursing Nest for bf’ing Mums. Sounds fab!

Have a merry weekend everyone!
