Glamp with the elephants
Love the idea of a family Safari holiday but can’t get away to Kenya? Well, take a lookie at Denise Van Outen here celebrating her birthday on Safari in … Kent! Yes, new to Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, the Elephant Lodge is a new luxury ‘glamping’ experience where you overlook an elephant paddock. The lodge can sleep up to eight people and you can stay for three, four or even seven nights with zoo entry and entertainment included. All you need to do is keep your fingers crossed that, like lucky Denise, Lee and Betsy you get to enjoy Safari-style temperatures too.

Is Justin cheesy? You better Belieber it!
I expect Justin Bieber (or should that be ‘Brie-ber’) may choke on his sarnies after being named the cheesiest celeb in a poll by Pilgrim’s Choice. The quiffy singer topped a list which included Tom ‘extra mature’ Jones, Alexandra Burke, troublesome duo ‘Ched-ward’ and TOWIE’s Mild Joey Essex. However, whilst their ‘lengendairy’ list pokes fun at the celebs it seems that we all want to give our cheese sarnies that celebrity touch by glamming them up. Current trends include: using high-quality cheese; buying artisan bread; adding olives, pesto or sweet chilli sauce and by replicating shop-bought sandwiches.
The Cake Store, Sydenham on www.mummyratesit.co.uk 5 minutes - 5 stories

Cakes for Ma’ams and Mums
At this year’s Ideal Home Show I was blown away by the talents on display in the Queen’s Jubilee cake competition. In particular the one of Her Majesty really impressed but I had no idea that it was made just down the road from mummyratesit HQ. Sydneham based The Cake Store have shown off their wonderful cake on The Graham Norton Show and This Morning and are now displaying more of their goodies in a special Harrods window. They’ve also launched their new website showing off all the other wonderful cakes they can make for birthdays, parties and Diamond Jubilee Street Parties (check out the selection of kids’ birthday cakes!)

Never has one little pot done so much
REVIEW: Vita-E Natural Vitamin E Cream may come in a little pot but it goes a long way and does an impressive amount of jobs. In our house I put it to the test using it as a night cream. I was pleased to find that it has a very similar consistency to expensive and luxurious night creams and that it did not aggravate any dry skin patches (which I sometimes get around my mouth) rather it got rid of them. Not content with trying it out on myself, I also put it to the test on sunburn (naughty Mummy missed Noah’s neck but the cream helped to ease the pain) and on Ferne’s dry hands – again great results. Other uses include: treating itchy skin in conditions such as psoriasis; softening and healing scars; soothing the after effects of radiotherapy and reducing the signs of ageing. Now that’s what I call a multi-tasker! Vita E Cream, £7.49 for a 45g tub.

  1. I love these 5 min things and am getting rather concerned at how attractive you’re making camping sound. My friends will be shocked but delighted if they feel they’ve persuaded me after all these years – but it will have been you, not them!

  2. Ha ha! You didn’t know this but your friends have commissioned me to keep writing camping/glamping posts as a lure…. it’s working! x
