This week’s 1 Woman is Jenny (not from the block) from Kyna Boutique. Jenny is extremely busy juggling motherhood and running her children’s clothing site which is packed with original and organic beauties. Here’s what Jenny has to say…

Q1.Describe your typical day.

My day normally starts around 7am, getting the children Kyle (7) and Nate (22m) up and ready for the school run. Then back home for a cuppa and catch up on any emails. Depending on the day, a toddler group or music class is also slotted into the morning. Nate normally has a nap just before lunch, I use this time to reply to customers, speak to stockists, research further lines – you name it, it squeezes in here. Following lunch I do the post office run and then go to pick Kyle up from school. We have a mixture of swimming lessons, homework and reading to be completed before bedtime. The boys go to bed at 8pm sharp which is when the majority of my work on Kyna Boutique begins, wrapping orders, writing blog posts, speaking to people on twitter – often until late.

Q2: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given and have you followed it?

Be true to yourself and believe in yourself. Yes I have totally stuck to this, it would be so easy to just stock the big named brands that everyone knows but that’s not what I’m about, I love discovering new interesting brands to showcase to my customers.

Q3: What do you think makes a successful woman?

Happiness and pride.

Q4. What 3 things really make you happy and why:

That’s easy, My husband and my two boys. They always make me smile, I couldn’t ask for any more.

Q5: What 3 things really make you angry and why:

I’m not really an angry person so it takes a lot to annoy me, but rude people just drive me crazy! There is no need for it, Also people who can’t be happy for others upsets me – we are what we make of ourselves!

Q6: How do you relax?

At the moment I have very little time to relax but when I do chill it’s in a nice hot bath with a glass of wine.

Q7: What makes you laugh?

The stuff Kyle comes out with every day make me chuckle, he says things with such innocence and often gets confused.

Q8: If you were given a time machine where and when would you travel to and why?

The day Kyle was born, I thought I was having Braxton hicks as it was far too early, if I had got to the hospital earlier they could have stopped the labour or at least slowed it down so he wasn’t as poorly when born.

Q9: If you had £10,000 to give to charity which one would you choose and why? Bliss, they saved my sons life, I owe them my world.

Q10: If you could magically create an extra two hours in a day what would you use them for?

Sleep! I never seem to have enough.

  1. I absolutely agree with a lot of these answers. I believe in being true to yourself, can’t abide rudeness and what wouldn’t any of us do for some extra sleep?! LOL.

    • Yes to the extra sleep. My goodness if only we could just lay in bed til 11am like the old days. I never used to know what 9am looked like on weekends (let alone 7am)…
